Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera has a bit of everything: wall diving with moderate drift, shore diving in sheltered coves, sea turtles, swim-throughs, and schooling fusiliers. Here’s your opportunity to dive the remnants of Spanish-era galleons — sunken treasures are occasionally found among the wreckage.
If You’re Looking for Variety
From wrecks, to shore dives, to drifty walls, Puerto Galera has a really nice mix of diving styles, with a well-balanced assortment of critters, reef dwellers, and pelagic animals. It’s not quite fair to call this place a “Philippines Taster,” but Puerto Galera really does have all the best elements of Philippine diving from around the region.
If You Love Exploring Coral Reefs
There’s beautiful house reefs in Puerto Galera, which have gentle slopes and are well-protected against strong currents. Further from shore, you’ll get lovely walls — some of which are topped by fields of table coral — with crevices and swim-throughs to explore. Verde Island is one of the most popular dive sites, with huge walls, overhangs, and excellent viz.
If You Enjoy Drift Diving
Divers of all levels can enjoy the drift diving at Puerto Galera. Most of the dive sites feature very mellow drifts with great visibility. There’s a handful of dive sites with stronger currents that get manta rays, eagle rays, and schooling pelagics.
