Unique Ventures: Vietnam and Cambodia Add on!

Follow STV as we showcase specialty trips and add ons! This month’s spotlight is on South East Asia. After doing some incredible diving in the South Pacific/SE Asia area, most folks would like to know what else they can do…

Our advice:  Make the longer flight times to the Pacific worth it! Add on a couple of days of tours and adventure in a part of the world you probably don’t visit too often…  Take advantage of being so close!

Here is a sample itinerary to Vietnam and Cambodia! A STV client wanted a little extra  after doing a week of diving in Indonesia…   Food, people, culture, temples, ruins and  more!

Cu Chi Tunnels & City tour (B,L)

This morning visit the Cu Chi underground tunnels, a networking of tunnels used by the Viet Cong forces to fight against both the French and later the Americans.

Lunch at local restaurant. Sightseeing tour of Saigon, including Chinatown area with Thien Hau temple, colonial buildings of Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, War Remnants museum.

 

Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho – Can Tho (B,L)

Depart to My Tho, explore part of Mekong River by cruising along the river to see the local fishing port where hundreds of fishing boats anchoring to unload fishes. Upon arrival My Tho, we board a private boat for the trip around four beautiful Islets: Dragon, Unicorn, Tortoise and Phoenix on Mekong River – Drop by Dragon island and take a walk to visit candy workshop and taste coconut candy (Special product of Bentre province). Enjoy tasting seasonal fruits and honey tea, visiting the Bee Haves farmed and coconut candy workshop.

Take the (motor cart) or bicycle through coconut gardens of Quới Sơn, Phú An Hoà and An Khánh (three villages. Pass by rice fields and vegetable plains to know how to culture in country “it is the best chance to view with local daily activities” Stop on the way have seasonal fruits Have sightseeing at local people’s daily activities and enjoy coconut juice. Lunch will be arranged at a farmer garden with Mekong special dishes.

Take rowing-boat on water palm creek. Back to My Tho – on the way to see fish breeding in floating cages along the Phoenix Islet – Back on shore and drive to Can Tho, check in your hotel for overnight stay. Overnight in Can Tho.

 

Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City (B,L)

After breakfast, take the morning boat trip to visit the Cai Rang floating market the biggest one in the Mekong delta in Viet Nam for viewing the busiest of transactions of local people over the river. & back to hotel around 2hrs). Have a short city tour in Cantho to visit Binh Thuy Ancient House, where the film L’amant was shot and one of typival Khmer Munir Ansay Pagoga down town of Can Tho.  Drive back to Sai Gon with lunch en route. Overnight in Sai Gon

 

Saigon – Siemreap (B)

Have breakfast at hotel (normal check out). The tour guide picks up and transfers to the airport for flight to Siem Riep. Upon arrive, meeting with tour guide at the airport and transfer to the hotel for check in. Have free time to explore city by your own. Overnight in Siem Reap

 

Siem Reap city tour (B)

Visit the famous Angkor Wat, the world’s largest temple with the longest intricately carved bas-relief panels. Explore this 3-tier pyramidal structure with massive galleries of thousand Buddha, interior walls and niches decorated with stone aspires (celestial dancers) and devatas (goddesses) and take a walk around the top terrace for a great view of Angkor.

Late afternoon, visit the “Great City” of Angkor Thom, Bayon temple and Ta Prohm for its intertwined trees. The tour ends with a hike up Phnom Bakheng for spectacular sunset views of Angkor Wat (elephants can be hired to carry you up).

Tonight enjoy dinner with the Apsara dance performance at Angkor Village Resort (optional)

 

Tonle Sap – Banteay Srei (B/L)

Drive to Banteay Srei in the morning and visit the Citadel of Women with its very attractive carvings, the Royal bathing place -Srah Srang, and the unique brick sculptures in Prasat Kravan. Lunch will serve at local restaurant In the afternoon, take a boat ride along the Tonle Sap Lake to the fishing and stilt-house village, and visit Les Artisan D’Angkor on the way back Visit Siem Reap Market. The evening is at leisure.
