In Belize, you can dive the core of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, and it won’t disappoint: these waters are home to dazzling coral reefs, schools of pelagic fish, a large number of sharks, and the iconic blue hole. Jungles, wildlife preserves, and ancient Mayan pyramids make Belize one of the most exciting and exotic dive destinations in the western hemisphere.

You’ll find the most spectacular diving at Turneffe Atoll, which is the largest atoll in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. The island’s most famous dive site, The Elbow, has an enormous drop-off and beautiful reef formations. You can also spot manatees and saltwater crocodiles in the waters around Turneffe.
Lighthouse Reef is home to the world-famous Great Blue Hole, which is more ideal for advanced divers. However, the diving in Belize is pretty mellow overall, and there are plenty of beautiful dive sites that are suitable for divers of all levels.
