Every year, millions of sardines migrate from the icy waters of Antarctica to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean along South Africa’s Wild Coast. Like clockwork, hungry predators - up to 7 species of sharks, 2 species of dolphins, cape fur seals, tuna, bryde’s whales, cape gannets and other predators all converge to feast on the enormous bait balls of sardines.
Every day, dozens of humpback whales will pass through the area. Don’t be surprised to see manta rays, whale sharks, and other large pelagics. You’ll be on the water each day at daybreak after an exhilarating beach launch of your RIB (Rigid Infl atable Boat) and with the assistance of your dedicated ultralight pilot you’ll follow the thousands of gannets and common dolphins to the wildest animal behavior you will likely ever witness!
When the captain gives the ok, you’ll jump in the water on snorkel or scuba (as the situation dictates) and marvel as the feeding frenzy plays out around you. Sharks, dolphins, birds, even whales zoom in from every direction! Definitely a case of sensory overload! As we know, Mother Nature is sometimes fickle but usually this happenes many times a day.
After a day on the water, there will be many other activities to choose from. Take an unforgettable ultraflight flight over the tea plantations and rugged coastline. Traditional African sundowners at one of several local 400’ waterfalls are always popular and the nature trails are magnificent. Horseback riding, kayaking, visits to an authentic African village and meeting the local witch doctor available for a minimal charge. One thing is certain, you will never be bored!
